The Lidl planning application to develop a new store on the former Caffyn's garage site on Beacon Road was approved by Wealden District Council's Planning Committee.

The outline planning application by Safeway has been approved but more detail is required and even though good progress is being made, the outcome of the Morrison bid to take over Safeway is still pending.
